Create a white cake batter following the directions on the box of cake mix.
Divide the cake batter into three equal sections in separate bowls. Add red gel food coloring to one bowl and blue gel food coloring to the other. Mix the batter until it reaches the desired shades of red and blue.
Scoop the batter into a greased 9 x 13-inch pan. Alternate the colors so there will be a bit of each color in almost every bite.
After the batter is in the cake pan, drag a toothpick through the batter to swirl it. Don't mix the batter, gently swirl.
Bake the cake according to the directions on the box of cake mix. Then allow it to cool completely.
Frost the cake with whipped cream then set in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
Remove the strawberry stems and slice them vertically into thin 1/4" slices.
Remove the cake from the refrigerator and create a row of seven blueberries without space between them in the top left corner.
Then arrange a column of five blueberries under each of the berries in the row. This is the blue portion of the flag.
Lay the strawberry slices overlapping across the top of the cake.
Leave about an inch of white space between the first row of strawberries and the second. The bottom of the second row should line up with the bottom of the blueberries.
Lay out another two rows of strawberries across the length of the cake leaving 1-inch white stripes between each row.
Store in the refrigerator until it's time to serve.
